Here’s what you missed at ThinkAg's second AgLab Event


When over 50 passionate and experienced individuals gather around a round table with a shared goal in mind, one can expect a lot to happen!


ThinkAg’s second event happened on the 14th of February at Mumbai witnessed participants from across the value chain including CXOs from India’s largest food and agri corporates, investors, eco-system players and innovators. We were pleased to have corporates such as Syngenta, Bayer, Mahindra, BASF, Godrej Agrovet; investors like Sequoia, Caspian, Acumen, Nexus Venture Partners and financial institutions such as Rabo Bank, Infinity FinCorp and Adani Capital at the event.


AgLab, AgInvest and AgConnect being the three pillars of ThinkAg took focus at the event. AgLab’s goal is to accelerate scale for Agtech innovators. This area of ThinkAg tasted early success when two of the innovators who presented at the 26thSeptember inaugural event, ‘SatSure’ and ‘Agricx’ have secured corporate partnerships. It was unanimously agreed that in order to hasten the development of Agtech, corporates would need to sharpen the problem statements


AgLab at this event involved presentations from 5 innovative companies.

  1. Credible Agtech- A startup founded in 2018 by a Rabobank alum. Is based in Mumbai and focused on developing localized demand forecasts. 


  2. Farmguru - building a differentiated farm input discovery platform with several exclusive products, based in Pune. 


  3. FarmGuide- An agri-tech company which is creating a holistic agri-data stack and using that to bridge the information gap across agri-supply chain. 


  4. Tessol – A cold chain logistics company aims to provide energy efficient and fuel saving refrigeration technologies for cold chain storage and logistics catering to provide an end to end solutions for sustainable Agriculture. 


  5. AgriRain An irrigation company specializing in Hosereel. AgriRain came out with a novel business innovation “Irrigation as a Service” 


With AgConnect, our focus is to bring out the rich knowledge and experience of the industry and apply it to the context of technology and innovation.  Pramod Prasad from Strategy and Innovation, Godrej Agrovet brought to light the various facets of innovation across Godrej Agrovet’s business verticals.


AgConnect will also host AgClinics – an invite only, moderated workshop with industry experts and selected startups. These workshops will aim build a stronger understanding of different components of the food and agriculture value chains, identify challenges and opportunities to collaborate. Each AgClinic will be on a specific theme and the first

AgClinic will be in April 2019 focused on Value Chain Financing (VCF) - Exploring Innovative models and collaborations to enable access to finance to value chain players. 


AgConnect, the monthly e-journal, is focused on sharing member experiences, stories and lessons from field, experts and innovators.


Look out for details of the next AgLab event that will be held in May/June of 2019.


With the objective of accelerating innovation in food and agriculture, we expect to see a lot more corporate partnerships, investments and rich knowledge generated from the ThinkAg platform.
